Founders
Zima Labs was founded by Anni Cai and Balaji Janakiram, whose careers converged on a shared conviction: the models were never the bottleneck, context scattered across systems and people is. Anni spent nearly a decade in investing at Blackstone, General Catalyst, Sequoia, and Peak XV, where she implemented an "investor brain" to magnify the power of tribal knowledge. Balaji built the agentic AI platform at Kognitos, and automation infrastructure for the India stock exchange at Calm.io before its acquisition by Nutanix, where he was chief architect. Zima Labs is their answer to organizations wanting to codify their systematic edge.
